MY SPECIAL MESSAGES (TUESDAY NOVEMBER 19 2024 9:30 AM EDT)

  • See the latest birdseye view post published below for more information on the following and the rest of the Atlantic tropics.

  • Special update post coming soon to cover final events with Sara and eastern Atlantic deep-layer cyclone that occurred during the later part of the weekend through today. With no other tropical systems occurring in the Atlanitc basin and the end of hurricane season approaching, the special update post will likely be my final regularly-scheduled update on the Atlantic tropics for this season.

    • Sara weakened to a tropical depression then remnant low while moving across Belize and the southern Yucatan peninsula, then into the Gulf of Mexico during the late part of the weekend and Monday. The remnant low is merging with a surface front moving across the Gulf of Mexico and southeastern United States, with its moisture contributing to heavy rainfall along the front.

    • The deep-layer cyclone in the eastern Atlantic has weakend while moving southwest into the waters west of the Canary Islands, and has not undergone tropical development. Impacts to land areas, such as coastal surf, are no longer possible due to the weakend state of the system.

  • As the author of infohurricanes.com, I have also been monitoring the progress of the worldwide progress of the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 page has not been updated over the last several months. The COVID-19 page will be updated with a final report on how the virus progressed over last few years.

BIRDSEYE VIEW POSTS

Since 2012 on the now retired Weather Underground blogs, I have been posting annotated "birdseye view" charts of the Atlantic basin, with a detailed explanation and forecasting that references the chart. From there you may know me as "NCHurricane2009." While I now do these "birdseye view" posts here, I will continue to do comments at Yale Climate Connections via Disqus where the former Weather Underground community has moved to. Feel free to reply to me there, at my Disqus feed at this link, or via e-mail at IOHurricanes@outlook.com
